John was formerly
Director of Engineering and
Planning of Southern California
Edison’s Transmission and
Distribution Business Unit, with
responsibility for transmission,
distribution and substation
planning and engineering,
protection engineering, project
management, advanced technology
integration, and research
activities in distributed
generation resources. Prior
assignments included managing
the day-to-day operation of
Edison’s generation and
transmission systems; managing
the utility's capital,
operating, and personnel
budgets, and corporate planning
process; and various system
planning responsibilities,
including long-range generation,
transmission and load management
planning, and short- and
long-range forecasting of system
peak loads and energy
requirements. John
led teams that were responsible
for designing and implementing
the market and operations
portions of the California
Independent System Operator.
John has over
thirty-four years of utility
experience, including extensive
experience in WECC on
operations, transmission,
reliability, and dispatch.
John holds a BSEE
degree from the University of
California, Berkeley. He is a
member of IEEE, and a registered
professional electrical engineer
in the State of California.
John was the 2002 recipient of
the IEEE-USA Divisional
Professional Leadership Award.
