Steve has 25 years of experience in the wholesale and retail electricity markets.  He has expertise in risk management, international and domestic portfolio management, marketing & trading operations, extensive physical and financial commodities expertise in power, natural gas, oil, coal, and emissions.  He has held senior positions responsible for commercial and operational risk, portfolio asset hedging strategies and position management, portfolio earnings-at-risk and identification of key risks at the consolidate and asset level.

Steve provided Edison Mission Energy’s asset evaluation in the acquisition of 9,200 MW, 45 units, of Commonwealth Edison coal, oil/gas and peaking facilities.  He participated in the building of Edison Mission Marketing & Trading and was responsible for operational strategies in the management of 12,000 MW of generation assets operating in PJM, Illinois, California, and New York markets.  He was a key lead in developing Edison Mission Energy’s corporate risk management function overseeing and consolidating regional operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. 

Prior to the deregulated market in California, Steve held management positions in System Operation and Fuels at SCE.  He provided testimony and was a witness in the CPUC ECAC proceedings.  

Steve graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Cum Laude.  He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, State of California.  Steve is currently attending UCI pursuing a certificate program in finance.
